One time secretary of Eleme Local Government Council and current Director of Administration with the Local Government Service Commission, Sir Hon John Kamalo has formally been inducted into the Egbalor council of Chiefs and Elders.
Hon kamalo who recently fulfilled all traditional rites due for his integration was accepted by the Egbalor Council of Chiefs and was given his due place as the Secretary, Egbalor Council of Chiefs.
In a brief chat with newsmen, Sir Hon John kamalo express delight at the outcome of the ceremony which he said is very unique “I feel elated and happy that today I am formally been inducted into this sacred traditional institution . This issue of induction did not come today, we only formalized it today as tradition demands. The current paramount ruler of Egbalor Community, HRH Chief Emere Godwin Chinwi was inaugurated on the 1st of July 2016 and on the same day I was also pronounced the secretary of Egbalor Council of Chiefs and Elders. However, there are certain traditional rites that were supposed to be fulfilled then, so today is a remarkable day as my position as Secretary to Egbalor Council of Chiefs and Elders is formalized, and by providence therefore, I am today Chief Hon John Kamalo”
Hon john kamalo further hailed the paramount Ruler of Egbalor Community HRH Chief Emere Godwin Chinwi, describing him as a destined and charismatic leader and thanked the Council of Chiefs for accepting him into the council. According to him, “Chief Emere Godwin Chinwi is a Special breed and we believe in him. He is a God given leader to Egbalor, Ebubu, Eleme and by extension Rivers State. He is a man destined by his charisma to be a leader and the people of Egbalor should expect good government because we will give our best to the community as a traditional institution”
More so, Hon Kamalo charged the youths of Eleme to abolish the mentality of “get rich quick syndrome” and work hard to earn a living. He advised them to acquire relevant skills that will benefit them and shun cultism and other related vices.
In his response, the Paramount Ruler of Egbalor Community HRH Chief Emere Godwin Chinwi thanked God for seeing them through restive period and stated that the function of the members of ogbo mkporon is both legislative and judicial.
According to him, this dual function requires that membership should be men that are blessed by age and education and pointed out that Chief John Kamalo is blessed with vibrant age, education and experience as an administrator in the Rivers State Local Government Service Commission.
He therefore charged Chief Kmalo to make his service available to his people and be exemplary at all times as his conduct will reflect his society.
Chief Chinwi advised other members to accept Chief John Kamalo as one of their own and work with him. He also used the occasion to appeal to the people of Egbalor Community to unite and work together under his leadership, informing them that better days are ahead.
